Baker St Cafe - Thai Kitchen & Bubble Tea | Our Story

A Thai grandmother's kitchen, found in Oregon

Fon Khunsamart grew up cooking roadside food in Thailand alongside her mother at age five. Every dish at Baker St Cafe carries that same story — grandmother's recipes, made from scratch, right here in McMinnville.

Started at age five

Fon learned to cook before she could read — helping her mom sell homemade food on the roadside outside Bangkok. Her grandmother, Yaa Dee, passed down the recipes that still anchor every plate we serve today.

Fon's father led one of Oregon's first Thai restaurant groups. She worked alongside him for $20 a day — and when her parents opened their own place, she was there from the start.

Nothing at Baker St Cafe comes from a bag or a shortcut. Curries are made by hand, ingredients are imported directly from Thailand, and Oregon's seasonal produce fills in the rest.
